To the Smith Family,
may I take this opportunity to acknowlege the great admiraiton and respect we had for your husband and father. Barry has been instrumental in the development of our faith (particularly of the men in our family). We praise God for the gift of Barry's life and can't wait to speak with him when we get to where he's gone on ahead.
We'll be praying for you here.
With Love in Christ,

To the family - cry and grieve lots, Barry is worth every feeling you have. Our prayers are with you.
Barry - I had a tremendous respect for you. I know you will meet many people in heaven who have come to Jesus through your Christ centred preaching. As for me, you provided a tremendous basis for eschatology and evangelistic preaching with the right heart. Farewell Barry, catch up with you later.

What a wonderful man - what a great legacy to leave for his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by many. It seems sad that he won't be around to see things unfold further and help us understand our future more BUT there's no better place to be than with Jesus. I look forward to meeting him face to face one day.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I always had the greatest respect for him for his knowledge in every area of life and also the word of god.Where can one find a man like him in these days?
We pray that the Lord will raise more Holy Ghost men like Barry.Someone to look up to and learn from.
I know I should be glad (and I am),but I am weeping as I scroll through the many beautiful messages. So many lives touched.
I feel empty like I lost a friend,a brother and a hero.-Thank you Jesus for hugging Barry - He loves you so much.
We pray that the Lord will bless you and give you strength to carry through. Our love goes out to you all in Christ Jesus.

Dear May
We are so happy to have known Barry you and your family. We have seen you all through hard times and good times. We have seen you cry and we have seen you laugh. We've got to say that most of the time it was laughter.
Barry had such an effect on our lives. We now have three children which we feel resulted from your prayers.
I want to honour Barry for his steadfastness and his uncompromising way. He wouldn't change ( not even his jokes) if people didn't agree, because he wanted to be a God-pleaser not man pleaser; yet he was gentle and a gentleman, never returning scorn for scorn but rather turning the other cheek.
His witness will always be with us. He was always willong to share the Gospel and tell people whomever and whereever that they needed to be born again. i spoke to him in the hospital at 6.00pm 0n the night he died - he was tired but still laughing.
I have had the privilege of calling Barry a true friend and brother as well as having the privilege of being at the front of many meetings around England and seeing many people coming to the Lord. I've stood through so many Amazing Graces and cried to see all sorts of people pour to the front to give their lives to Jesus.
Barry you ran your course your completed your work and I am sure you have now collected your big hug and your reward - no more pain no more tears just laughter and your jokes.
You are not just friends you are family- thank you for sharing Barry with us we are so much the richer for having known you all.
Farewell brother Barry - until we meet again
With love Steve Karen Rebecca Jordan and Grace

Dear May & family,
I want to join with those who have written such wonderful messages to send my loving sympathy & to pay tribute to Barry whom I was privileged to know personally. His messages were so inspirational & challenging when I first heard him speak in Lower Hutt, New Zealand.
You may remember a ferry journey from the south island many years ago when we met you on board & took you home to Stokes Valley. I have never forgotten the lovely hours we spent together with you both & your children.
Barry's name has been on my mind & in my heart.
I missed a meeting he was holding in Buderim Queensland & have regretted that.
With warmest love to you all.

To The Barry Smith family,
We thank God for your Dad. He has been a constant source of encouragement to us and we loved his books and his preaching. We heard him and spoke with him a few weeks ago when he was in Aust and though he looked tired his message and his love for his Lord was the same as the first time we heard him many years ago.
We cannot recall anyone that we have heard in the last 30 years that presents the gospel and the invitaion to receive Christ clearer than Barry Smith. We will always remember him for his jokes which no doubt he is now telling around Heaven to any who would listen.
Well Barry, its the last time you will ever have to unroll that well used banner of yours.
We are thinking of your wonderful family at this time and think you are so lucky to have gone on ahead of us all.
Thank you family for your Man of God.
Love,
Wally & Fiona Williams and family

We are saddened by our loss of Barry who had a personal impact on the lives of many in the UK with his direct and humorous approach to sharing his love of the Lord. We are heartened by the fact that we will be seeing him again, and no doubt his sense of humour will be a blessing to us for ever more!
