Victoria and I are deeply saddened at the news of Barry's death. Christianity has lost one of it's truly individual characters, God has gained the homecoming of a son and Barry has reached the prize! To May and the family our love and payers are with you and for you.

Dear Smith Family
What a Great man!!!, Never afraid to speak about what he believed in!. Barry Smith Has touched the lives of many people from all over the world, I know that he made me take a step back and think about what is going on in the world we live and where I stand spiritually, We are all proud of him ... A real servant of Christ, The question is now who pick up the touch and run the next league of the race, Barry started a ministry that began as a little spark but now is a powerful flame that has spead thoughout the world. God Bless you Barry, A real man of courage, determination and conviction ... Take it easy up there ... I hope to shake your hand again one day
To the family .... May the Holy spirit come upon you all with Peace and Love ...
This is not a sad time, but a time of rejoicing ... He finished the race and finished well ....
I hope that all will be inspired by Barry and his Legacy.

Dear Mae and family,
Christine and I extend our love to you all. We remember your hospitality to us over twenty years ago, and Barry giving me my one and only pedal steel lesson! We remember his fervour in preaching the gospel in the crusades we shared in. A man of uncompromising boldness that is an example to us all. He was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for he knew it was the power of God bringing salvation to those who believed. He was passionate about people believing. The likes of Barry do not come into the church very often. His leagacy will live on in the eternity of thousands.

I, along with my family have mixed emotions. We are please that Barry is now with the Lord, but we are very sad because he will be greatly missed. During Barry's visit to Sydney last month, we had the pleasure of catching up with him. The thing that made Barry stand out is that no matter what he was going through, he always had the joy of the Lord with him. I have not seen a man of God, show so much love and desperation to see people saved. He really had an impact on our lives and his actions spoke louder than words. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Please remember: To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Love

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of a Mighty Man of God on Thursday June 27. On the three occasions we had the privilege of being present at a series of meetings where Barry was the speaker, we were blessed beyond words. We remember him with affection and look forward to meeting him again in Glory. Barry spoke a lot about his family which he loved greatly and he will especially be remembered for the frequently used statement, "My son Andrew..." In June 2000 we were able to meet him and he had a playful smile about his lips when my wife introduced our son and said, "I would like you to meet, MY SON Andrew!".
We bless the Lord for the ministry of this faithful Man of God and send our love and prayers to his wonderful family.
Love and blessings

We learned about Barry's going to be with Jesus in heaven yesterday (Sunday morning) in Garden City Christian Church, Brisbane. We were saddened by the news at first because we were so looking forward to Barry's coming here in a few weeks' time to conduct a crusade. We know many souls would have come into the Kingdom of God because of his ministry.
We ourselves have been to several of the crusades. We remember Barry when he first came to our church exactly 20 years ago. Because of his passion for souls and all his work in relating the gospel of Jesus to the lives of people living in this world today we have been so richly blessed and inspired.
But we rejoice that all believers in Jesus will get to meet and talk with this great Christian Barry Smith in heaven. We have peace knowing that Barry is now enjoying the rewards for his labours in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Barry was a champion for Christ!!!

Dear Mae & family,
I knew Barry during the mid eighties in Sydney. Although I didn't always agree with him, I admired his zeal for Jesus. There are many people who will miss him in the here and now, but more will gnash their teeth for not paying attention to his uncompromising message. I admired him also for his attitude to you, his immediate family. My condolences go out to you for this great personal loss. Andrew's epitaph is a wonderful testimony to a godly man. May the Almighty continue to bles you all with love for one another.

For nearly thirty years we have valued Barry's friendship and ministry. He has been an inspiration to us by his dedications, while remaining genuinely and delightfully human and humorous.
We look forward to a joyful reunion, but - while we praise the Lord for all that Barry has meant - we join with May and the family in heartfelt grief at such a loss.

I pray the Comforter would be with May and the family. I realy thought Barry would have hung on untill the Rapture. He had a great ministry. A gain for heaven and a loss for earth.

To May and family:
Our thoughts are with you at this time.
When we heard of Barry's passing, the verse from the Bible which says that 'unless a seed falls into the ground and dies, it can't bring forth great fruit...' came to mind. Barry's life inspired many, including ourselves. There will now not be one 'Barry Smith', but many 'Barry Smiths' - people who will repeat this message over and over and in more places than Barry could ever be. Not just his messages aligned with current affairs, but the message of Jesus and His love and God's desire to be us back to Himself.
We will always remember the hugs and handshakes, and strong strains of 'Amazing Grace'. We will remember his humour and friendliness.
We often remember Barry using the illustration of seeing his father before going to the Marriage Supper, and asking 'Dad! Great to see you! Coffee, tea, or Milo?' I am sure that they are having a great conversation 'over that cup of tea'.
Our love to you all.

Dear May and family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. Barry's passing is heavens gain and his reward from the Lord. We will all miss him, and we continue to thank God for Barry's life and dedication to his calling. The Lord has called him home where we will all be one day. Be comforted by the legacy that Barry has left behind, the vastness of his ministry, and the thousands of people whose lives has been changed because of Barry's commitment to serving Jesus.
Jesus said "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted" May the Lord bless and give you strength at this time.
We regret we will not be able to come for the funeral due to prior overseas commitment, but we will see you soon...
Much love
Ropati & Julia,
April, Victor and Joy AMOSA

I keep thinking of Barry in Heaven and know I should feel a little gladder as it was for that special meeting with Jesus that he spent 50 years travelling around the globe encouraging us all to accept the gift of everlasting life.
However, I'm still so sad for the gap he has left behind in the world at a time when all the things he has been preaching are starting to be felt.
He helped me to turn around and change my heart and my mind with his startling, no nonsense message. What a good advert for a Christian father - a man of deep faith, humility, discipline, wisdom, love and of course his off the wall, politically incorrect humour!
He was one of a kind and I can't imagine how difficult that loss must be for the family, even though he left them secure in the knowledge of where he was going and with a lifetimes achievements on earth to be very proud of.
God Bless you all.

Dearest May and Family
I am SO blessed and SO priviledged to have known you and Barry.
He always had a smile on his face when he saw me and my family. And would ALWAYS ask "where's Mum & Dad?"
Although he will be sadly missed through everday life, but I know where he's gone, he's experiencing the personal conversations with Christ around a fountain or playing hide and seek with the other kids.
Just keep your head up high, and know, that for us too...that is also our destiny.
May God continue to bless the Ministry and comfort you all during this time of loss
