Some are known for being great exegetes, others for dynamic preaching. Some like myself (Mark)will probably be remembered for our many mistakes. My wife and I will choose to remember Barry Smith for being a real Christian, one who was genuinely happy! Simple, unabashed and good to be with. We are so glad for him, and only wish we could be part of the celebrations that will surely take place in Blenheim.Every blessing to our Kiwis in Christ.

Nine years ago, during a terrible time in my life (when I was suffering from a severe illness)I watched a Barry Smith video in the middle of the night. His simple preaching of the Gospel brought me to my knees there and then, and I accepted Jesus into my life.

I have since had the pleasure of meeting Barry - when he preached at City Temple, Cardiff.

He never ceased to inspire me to follow Jesus more closely and he was so often 'spot on' about world events tying in with Bible prophecy.

I shall miss him, but look forward to seeing him when we are in the company of the Great Healer Himself.

I send my condolences to May and the family.

Dear May & Family,

What a wonderful Christian man and how brightly the light of Jesus shone from him. I thank God for Barry and for you too May, for you both faithfully served God and blessed so many people over many years.
I loved Barry’s gift for expounding the truth of the Bible in such a down to earth manner. One which I shall always fondly remember is Barry’s teaching about Mary, the mother of Jesus. He unravelled many wrong doctrines taught over this issue but always with a touch of humour and practical common sense. During his discourse he disclosed the fact that Jesus had brothers and sisters (something unheard of for many I'm sure) and he painted a lovely picture of Mary standing at the back door calling “James, Joseph, Simon, Judas, Jesus and girls, come indoors now, it is time for tea and don’t forget to wash your hands”.
This was Barry – never afraid to speak the truth and face falsehood head on, but somehow in a manner that did not offend but sent the hearer searching for the truth.
What a wonder example to us all of God’s love and grace. Truly we have been blessed!!

May the Lord be very near to you all in the days ahead.

To May and family,

My heart goes out to you all at this time, tears came to my eyes and I pray for you at this time that the Lord's comfort be with you and the comfort of knowing that Barry is where he so wants to be, with his Lord and saviour.

He ran the race and went right through the finish line in love with Jesus and doing his will as we all want to do.

My father went to be with Jesus 3 years ago and I know what you feel in some ways.

Barry was here in Mildura several years ago, with you May and those meetings are still talked about today. He was a very humble man and my husband and I were just talking the other day about how the end times and living for Jesus isn't talked about enough.

You'll see him again, praise God, what wonderful hope we have in our Lord. God bless you all. Stay close to Jesus!

For sometime I have been trying to find a Web site hosted by Evangelist Barry Smith. I have never been able to find it until today with the SAD news that we will no longer be able to blest by his wonderful ministry. But I THANK the LORD that BARRY walked the road that the LORD had prepared for him. I am glad that though he never knew me personally, he touched my life with GODS WORD.

I encourage Barry's family, though we will greatly be dismayed by the gap he left, we can happily say that he lived a full life for the LORD. We shall surely meet him again

I had the priviledge of hearing Barry Smith at Winsford only a few days before he died. I can say this not only did he excite me about Jesus' return but also gave me encouragement to look deep into the Word.

I am glad I heard Him speak before he died, my life has been changed by his work for God.

To the family, you had a great man of God among you, I pray that God will be with you during this time.

Barry was a man of God and we have all been priviledged to know him, I wish I had known hime more.

Best wishes to all the family

God Bless

To the Smith family

I was sad to hear the news, but not totally, because it was very evident that Barry loved the Lord and he is with Him now having a good time.

Be encouraged by the fact that Barry has helped a lot of people, both Christians - in understanding more of the end times and being prepared, and non Christians who heard the uncompromised Gospel.

May the Lord take you all from glory to glory - Susanne - London, England.

To Dearest May and family

I can't say how shocked I am to learn of Barry's passing on. Knowing that he ran the race faithfully, I am convinced that he is basking in the Glory and worship of the person whom was the reason for his very being - Our loving Heavenly Father and His Righteous Son, Jesus of Nazareth.

Like so many of the other testimonials before me, I was touched by his escatological ministry of profound importance. Unlike so many church ministers of today, whom seem to avoid the subject of "End Times", due to a confusion and fear, Barry took up the challenge with great gusto, cogence, wit and annointing. His ministry was invariably followed by signs and wonders and was motivated to saving souls and encouraging the converted to make their election sure all the more as they see prophecy realised in our generation. Since he often took the challenge, in might of His power, to occultists such as satanists, witches and freemasons, he was a unique christian in God's army. I am sure the forces of darkness will be breathing a sigh of relief.

I am shocked also because I ponder at whom is there in our generation like unto Barry, whom is of equal stature to take up the same baton, able to and knowledgable enough and yet humble enough to empty himself enough to let God be Lord of all his endeavours.

Concerning Barry's humility I have this to say. I co-managed a Travel Agency for nine years in South Africa, and had the privelage to take care of some of Barry's domestic travel arrangements while working there in the early 90's and found him to be exemplary. Having had exposure to many of God's servants through the handling of their travel arrangements, I became used to many of the emminent and popular christian speakers pampered and spoiled temperaments, sometimes demanding over the class of airtravel or hotel they are booked. On the contrary, Barry, though deserving of the best was always happy to be about His Father's business, no matter what the cost.

It is with pleasure that I regard Barry as one in the Hebrews Ch11 annuls of fame, in one I feel it pertinent say, this world was not worthy of his like.

I extend my condolences to you, May and your family, for I know he shall be greatly missed.

Love in Jesus

Dave

It is with both sadness and joy we received the news today about Barry. We are sad as another great Christian man leaves us for the time being and we will be much the poorer without his regular input to the rapid approach of Christs return and the sense he made of our worlds crazy current affairs. We have much joy in the fruit he has left behind and the permanent record we all have as a result. We have even greater joy in that Barry is now rejoicing with the Lord.

Much Love to his family.

Judith Sly02/07/2002 at 12:44pm GMT
My husband Peter and I wonder how many thousands of people Barry bought to the Lord Jesus? Certainly we have a son in that number.

Condolences to Mae and the family. We are SO sorry you were not together at the last - BUT what a get-together there will be be later!!

Love - and shalom - in Jesus

Dear MAE,and FAMILY, I guess we are just a couple of the many who wish to express our love for Barry, his ministry was powerful and so unique, we had the blessing of attending many of his meetings around sydney, and have a great collection of his videos, and books, and have seen many lives changed , through Barrys teachings, and we know now that Barry is in the comfort of that beautiful place he always spoke about, this also has produced a confidence to face the future in our lives, with an assurance in the eternal treasures of Gods word. To the Smith Family,
I have no need to tell you of the great loss our family feels today. I am a soul who will be eternaly greatful for Barry's commitment to our Lord, it was through his preaching that Jesus became real in my life, and through his preaching I have been constantly encouraged. I pray God will give him a big hug from me!
And I pray God will be comforting you all also.
The world has just lost one of God's finest.

Dear May,Andrew @family,Uncle Barry gave us (and countless others)a lot of joy over the past decade @ we just loved being around him,it was always was exciting and the unexpected often happened. He was inspirational @ made the word of God come alive. From our coach trip through Greece @ on to Israel @ the times we spent at Pelorous all hold fond memories.Just the thought of them brings a smile to our faces. His example and teaching gift has been the reason for the salvation of thousands who would have not come into the kingdom if they had not encountered Jesus if they had not been exposed to disciple Barry.Whilst he will not be push starting his truck with his tractor at Pelorus again we are sure he will be kept busy for decades to come in heaven speaking to all those he has led to the Lord.God bless you May,Andrew,Rebecca,Rachel and your familys at this time.Paul,Michelle,Alister @ Rosie.

To Barry Smith, May, All the Smith Family, Relatives, Acquaintances, International Support Ministries UK and all Workers behind the scenes of the Barry Smith Ministry. Thank you for all your continued hard work, time, dedication and efforts. I had the previlige of eating breakfast with Barry a few weeks ago in Hendon, UK at the home of mutual friends. I first heard of Barry when I was given one of his videos in 1998. I watched it at home and stayed home in a state of shock for 3 days because of its contents. I prayed that I would meet other people who had heard Barry's messages and would evangelize more fervently. God continues to honour that prayer. Jesus Christ is my Lord too Barry, see you soon!

On behalf of the Toowoomba Assembly of God in Queensland, Australia I would like to salute a true champion of the faith, Evangelist Barry Smith.

Of all the Evangelists that have ever preached from our pulpit, I can truly say there is none that has been as effective in soul winning as our brother Barry Smith.

A man of complete integrity that presented the gospel in simplicity and without compromise. Truly a Man of God!

I met Barry Smith for the first time at Winsford in Cheshire on Saturday 22nd of June.

Barry shared his heart in a moving and caring cay, telling us about how special his family are to him, the difficulties they have had to face Re his daughter, and how the Lord has kept them through great difficulties.

To his family I would like to say, Barry told us how special you all are, one day I hope to meet some of you, and am so saddened that I will have to wait to meet Barry again. Barry told us how special was his relationship with his son, and how much he though about him. Barry spoke so affectionatly about his wife, who he loves with a such a depth.

My greatest disapointment is that I never knew Barry earlier.

Barry is with Jesus, and I believe with his daughter and son-in-law, my hear is heavy for the loss of one so special, but my prayers are will Mrs Smith and his family.

Love from a christian so far away, but one who feels so close to such a special family.

To May and aiga,
Thank you so much for sharing Uncle Parry with us all. We (Falelima & Leia, Teresa and her children Rakiand Tiano) met him at the meetings in Penshurst, Sydney in May this year. He was to us a breath of fresh air, a Godly man who practiced what he preached like no other we have met. So funny from the pulpit and such a deep yearning to have souls saved. As my 11yr old nephew Jozef-Raki said "I like Uncle Parry because he wants people to get to heaven" Raki attended the meetings with us so enthusiastically, wanting to hear Uncle Parry and to be close to him. Uncle Parry made this young man feel so important...Raki loves all his jokes and has shared them with all his friends. What an awesome role model Uncle Parry was to this young life. Thank you Uncle Parry. It is interesting also that Raki said to his Mum last night "Mum, Uncle Parry will probably bring more people to God after he dies aye"!! How true.
When we received the phone call of Uncle Parry's passing Raki's sister Tiano was sitting there yelling at me to say Hi to Uncle Parry....she was so sad to hear that he had died. Both Raki and Tiano(and us too!!!) were really looking forward to accepting Uncle Parry's invitation to visit him and meet May.
Thank you to all of the Smith family, the love that Uncle Parry has for you all is so evident when he speaks of you all. When he accepted our offer to take him to dinner we couldn't stop laughing at his many stories of life on the property(particularly his mowing the lawns and ending up hanging from the tree!!!) The correspondence in the 'Letters to the Editor' in the June Omega Times moved me to tears at the respect and love between father and son...truly inspirational.
I haven't stopped crying since I heard about Uncle Parry, it is amazing how this man that we met as few as 4 times has affected all of us so deeply. As Falelima said, "the way we can honour Uncle Parry's life is by living daily for God as he did"
Our deepest condolences to all the Smith family. May you truly experience the comfort of Holy Spirit at this time. May, I also pray that your knee is improving. (did the magnets help?)
Our prayers are with you and once again thank you for sharing your husband, father, grandfather with the world. It is so good to know that we will meet with him again in heaven. As the scripture says "To live is Christ, to die is gain"
Gods blessings on you all. Would love to come to the funeral, however circumstances do not allow. By the way the 'P' instead of 'B' is not a mistake......he told us to call him this. :-) he he he he

About 2 years ago, I walked into a bookshop wanting to get a tape for my unsaved boyfriend. I believe now, that the Lord had led me straight to Barry's tape entitled End Times. I live in South Africa and had never heard of Barry Smith. I played the tape and as we watched I remember us sitting in shock at the teachings of Barry Smith. We'd rewind the tape over and over being sure not to miss any information. Thanks to Barry, my boyfriend has had a zest for God unlike I've ever imagine. So much so that he got us two tickets to go and hear Barry preach in Johannesburg. Since then we've stocked up on most of Barry's tapes and books.

Barry will be sadly missed.
