What can you say about a man that brought so much pleasure and joy into peoples live with his books, video, tapes and also those incredible meetings, he could talk for hours without a script.
He made teaching a joy, you never felt bored when you went to one of his meetings.

He was truly a "Man of GOD".

He will go down in history as one of the Great men of our age who brought the gospel to life, he made Christianity fun and enjoyable, with his humour he could always be relied on to bring a few chuckles with his anecdotes.

The man was full of information which he kept in meticulous order.

He was Christianity incarnate.
The moment you heard him you felt he was your friend, if you spoke to him he would always make time to listen in spite of his busy schedule.

Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter in to the joy of the Lord.

God Bless you Barry

Paul

Dear May, children and grandchildren

We are still so shocked and grief-stricken by Barry's departure that every time his name is mentioned we fight back the tears.

That gives us an idea of how great a man he is, because we only met him a couple of times in 1988 (in Canberra). When we got the news through Omega Times we both collapsed on our eldest son's bed and cried like babies. We feel like orphans and yet hardly new Barry. How much more difficult it must be for you all who shared your daily lives with him. Our sincerest condolences to you all!

Barry has left an impact on our lives that no other man has other than Jesus himself. It was not just his end-times teaching or even his teaching on family life and child discipline or on general Christian living that have marked us for good, but it was that radiating, pulsating love of the Saviour that he shed abroad by his very presence, his catching humour and his down-to-earth, transparent, humble nature. He was also something of a barometer for us, as we found that people who had problems with him turned out sooner or later to have had significant problems with the Lord in their Christian walk. The many difficulties he faced during his battle here on Earth for the Gospel attest to how spot-on he was. For us, his name goes down with the likes of Jeremiah and Paul whom the Lord counted worthy to suffer for him and of whom the world was not worthy.

In moments of great grief we often hear the Master's soothing voice most clearly and the message both Margaret and I seemed to be hearing was that those of us left behind must pick up the baton, wherever we are, and continue the race unflichingly. While our grief is natural, we must not let it linger, but gird up our loins and bear the torch that Barry brandished so high and so clearly. As a friend of ours pointed out when we shared the news with him, Barry regularly told us that "eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." He is seeing and hearing all those wonderful things now and most probably knows exactly who the antichrist is, while we continue to grope about and speculate! Personally, we know that Barry will be the first person we look for up there after we have seen Jesus! What a man!!!

We work in the French-speaking world, where the Gospel is hardly heard and teaching of Barry Smith quality very scarce indeed. We regularly pass on information received through the Omega Times and the teaching we have gleaned from Barry's life in his outreaches, books and cassettes to the small group of believers we are fostering here in New Caledonia. We were therefore so glad to hear that Andrew will be continuing Omega Times and whilst you (Andrew) say that your father had big shoes, we mustn't forget that he grew into them. You must of course do what the Lord is calling you to do, but there is a proverb in my (Gilles's) native Uganda: "The child is the father to the man". Its meaning is akin to the biblical proverb: "like father like son" and speaks of the generational perpuation of your heritage (for me spiritual as well as genetic) and of a certain responsibility we have towards our godly forebears, before God and before mankind. It would not surprise us (and would greatly bless more than a few) if you took to the preaching circuit!

For our part, we will continue to echo Barry's message (in our sphere of influence), which along with a few other strategic doctrines, such as creation science, is truly THE teaching for this age.

May God, who gave us Barry, continue to give you great and wonderful blessings as you carry on fighting the good fight.

All our love to you

Gilles & Margaret Kaboha and our children, Sacha, Nathalie and Josué

There is so much one wants to say in regard to Barry , but I gues Jesus said it best when He said Lucky is the servant when the Master comes and finds him busy with the task given to him.
Barry was such a servant and I know he is reaping his rewards right now in heaven.
Our prayers go out to you.
May the Lord bless you indeed
May the Lord increase your boundaries
May the Lord keep His hand upon you, so that you may not knowor cause pain.
God Bless , thanks for your sacrifices to let Barry do his work

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the difference Barry made to my life through his ministry. A truly anointed man of God.
He will be missed greatly, but I know we will all meet on the other side some day.

When I lived in Auckland I used to pick up the Omega Times from the local Christian bookshop. After I moved to Waihi over a year ago I lost contact with it so last night I thought I would see if it was on the internet, and was shocked to discover that Barry had died and I had missed it.
Years ago when I taught woodwork at a west Auckland school, Barry taught woodwork at the adjacent manual training centre. We often had friendly discussions about Bible doctine as I am a Sabbath keeper and did not agree with Barry on a number of issues. However, there was never anything acrimonious and I felt closer to Barry than most of the Sunday Christians who don't believe Jesus is coming again and don't believe that the world is moving into a period of God's judgement on our nations for their sins.My sincere best wishes to all the family. Regards,
Steve Gough.

One night after getting truly affected by reading " better than nostradamus " I committed my life to Christ. Barry ministered to me through this book and further books and videos I viewed.
Unfortunatley I never got to meet Barry, he did come to Invercargill on occasion. It was after his last trip here maybe 4 yrs ago that I made a dedication to Jesus, I have been going strong since.
Thank you Lord for Barry Smith he holds a special place in my heart. I knew on hearing of his death that he has gone to be with our father.

Barry's no nonesense approach the the bible has taught me so much of how to talk about the second coming in away that the every day man on the street can understand.

It was through Barry's teaching that I first fixed my eye's on our "Blessed Hope" in the late 1980's while still living in South Africa and it is with sadness for those left behind that I hear of his death.
For Barry though it is promotion and he is now where most of us can just hope to be.
May the peace of God that passes all understanding be your peace in this sad time.
Till we all meet in that glorious day
God Bless

Jesus' great commission was to "go therefore...discipling, baptizing, and teaching..." and at the same time He promised "lo, I am with you always". Having spent the last hour or so reading peoples thoughts on Barry Smith, it is obvious he indeed went into all the nations and did just that. His legacy, in part, is the changed lives of so many people to whom he faithfully witnessed throughout the world.

Our testimony concerning Barry is that we had the privelege to not only sit under his teaching on quite a few occasions, but also socially over an Aussie barbeque with May and their children. We have a photo that I love of Barry and May looking on with great pleasure at Debbie who was plastered with mud all up the back of her white clothing because Andrew had taken her for a ride through the rainforest on our farm. He had given her the royal treatment through every creek crossing and muddy track he could find.
It's interesting the things you remember about a person. When we go to eat out somewhere, I often remember how Barry would incorporate the saving gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ into the loudest "grace" he could possibly muster for the benefit of any diners seated nearby.
We are so glad that the memories of our life include Barry Smith.
With Christian love forever to May and family.

Many years ago we saw and heard Barry in the town hall at Ryde, Isle of Wight, UK. WE were thrilled at his messages and many times have seen his videos. What a dear, faithful servant of God to the world wide church of Jesus Christ. He will be sadly missed by us all. Condolences to the family, and our prayers for you at this sad time.

Both my husband and I were very sad to hear of Bary Smith's passing. What a fantastic ministry this man has had. I know of no one else who has contributed to gospel in the way he has - linking Bible prophecy with world events. Ironically, I only said to my husband recently, who will pick up the baton when Mr. Smith goes?

"More alive that he's ever been" - what a brilliant epitaph - and oh so true. My condolances to the family. No doubt you will miss him terribly, but what a consolation to know that he was ready to go and so the Lord, like Enoch, just took him. A man who walked righteously before God.

Thank God for Bary Smith and all he has given us over the years, and thank God for you his family who hold the legacy he's left behind.

In my early years in Christianity I read many of Barry's Books but only this year, for the first time, I was able to attend one of his meetings at Buderim on the Sunshine Coast.
Barry has gone to a better place but will be missed by many, especially his family. I am sure we all look forward to the day we can all be with Barry and the great "cloud of witnesses" who have gone before.
My congratulations to Barry on finishing the race, my condolances to his family.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Barry's death, although I know he has gone to be with the Lord that he lived for. I saw him last year in London,England but have listened to his messages for many years. I pray for his wife and family that they may have great comfort over the coming weeks and months.

I truly thank God for the life of Barry Smith, I saw him as a genuine believer in the Lord and I prayed today to have the love and commitment to the Lord that he had.

We received the sad news today with the latest issue of Omega. We feel so sorry for having lost a good teacher and Bible expositor. We always read all his publications and eagerly studied the prophetic interpretations.

We have heard Barry almost every time he came to Sydney, Australia. The last time we heard him was at Penshurst only a few weeks ago. We are so happy that we did obtain a video set of that Sydney meeting.

God will bless him and reward him for he proved to be a good and faithful servant. May God be with May and all the family and may his message be diligently preached until Jesus comes.

'And you shall find me when ye shall search for me, with all your heart' (Jeremiah 29:13)
If there is one other man other than Jeremiah that lived this, it would be Barry. A truely inspirational soul, thats dedication and love for the 'TRUTH' and his selfless willingness to tell all about Gods Love and his way of escape, made possible by the death and resurrection of his beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
We would like to offer our deepest sympathys and our warmest love to his family and also to his church in New Zealand.
We had the great pleasure of seeing Barry on his latest trip this year to Australia on the Sunshine Coast.
It is awesome to know that God cares for his sheep and he loves us with an infinite love that will extend for all of eternity.
We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that any man with 'clean hands' and a 'pure heart' will have sweet rest when his breath is taken from him. We also know that 1 Thess 4:16-18" For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel , and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord, Wherefore comfort oneanother with these words."

I came to the web site to check the dates for Barry's next tour of the UK. Over in September the literature said. So sad never to have seen him speak - except on video. My local church unceremoniously pulled down the poster announcing his visit to Bristol earlier in the year so I'm still not sure if he made that venue.
My own work was influenced by Barry's in no small way.
Love to all his friends and family
In Yeshua's name
