Our hearts and Prayers go out to the Smith family, Barry has always been a large part of our life not only in his teachings, videos and books, but I praise God that I was there to help when Barry had his major heart attack and saw the hand of God move in an awesome way by providing the funds to give him a new heart so that he could keep going and do the Lord's work, Barry I know touched many a people's lives in a real way with humour added in there, we Praise the Lord for this amazing family that is a real family a family that stood together in the good times and hard times, a family that has true and real love not just for each other but for everyone worldwide. It will be a great loss to the world as no one preached the way Barry did, but we must thank the Lord for allowing us to have the privellige in having Barry here to preach and teach us over many years. We must also thank the Lord for his beautiful wife May who gave her husband to us all and of herself in everything that Barry did, thank you also to the family for sharing their Father and Mother with us all that is not an easy thing to do sometimes.

Thank you and God Bless you all, remember that we all care and are Praying for you.

Dear brothers and sisters,
My heart goes out to you in your loss, although I also rejoice with you in the knowledge that Barry has gone to be with his Father in heaven.
I consider it an enormous privilege to have seen and heard Barry speak on numerous occasions when he came to England. I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for speaking to my Father, still unsaved, but nearer the Lord for having come with me and my Mum to hear Barry speak, and for giving my Mum, now with the Lord herself, the opportunity to go forward at one of his meetings in Birmingham a few years back. (I have this on video,(PRICELESS!)my Mum and I both at the front, her reciting the prayer of salvation with Barry and many others who responded to the call).
My Father is a retired bank manager and does not suffer fools gladly, he also didn't have ANY time for Christian speakers until I asked him to watch
one of Barry's videos. He watched about SIX HOURS at least and actually came along to TWO meetings! I could hardly contain my joy when he did, my smile went from ear to ear!
I am so comforted to know that my Dad has heard the gospel in a no nonsense, straight talking, humorous way thanks to the incredible gift Barry had and feel sure that as a result, when it comes to the crunch, my Dad will make a decision for Jesus and be saved.
Because of Barry's tireless work for the Lord, I can be sure every day brings me a day nearer to seeing my beloved Mum again and that one day, we will ALL be reunited in heaven.
Another heartfelt thank you to you his family, for letting us all share him so much and for 'suffering' his frequent, lengthy, tiring trips away.
You are a great credit to him and I hope you take enormous comfort from the wave of love and good wishes on their way to you from folks whose lives will never be the same because of the great work Barry did for them in Jesus' name.
My love and thanks to you all,
Sandra.

We were very saddend to hear of the passing of Barry. The immediate thought that came to my mind was the 1,000's that will stand in heaven because of his ministry.

What an example he has left to us all to follow.
Lost people matter to God.

We have been so blessed to know him and be recipients of his teaching.
Love to all the family you are in our prayers.

We recently heard Barry speak in Christchurch.
We loved his teachings and came to two of the services with our 3 children. We could have listened all night! He was so honest and in your face!
What a celebration there will be for him in heaven.
May God comfort you at this time...

To the Smith family.
At present my band Red Rain and I are ministering throughout europe, we are in Germany at the moment.

Having Just recieved an email from Andrew regarding news of his fathers death, I have to say that I have mixed emotions about brother Barry leaving, obviously very sad to see him go but also very happy for he is now with the one who he has given his life to serve and proclaim the message of Jesus Christ.

In my heart I have so much I would like to say in this letter, but most of all I want to thank Brother Barry for been such an awesome example to what it means to be a man of God. I am now 30 and can remember going to Barrys meetings in New Zealand with my family when I was as young as
9 or ten years of age. His message touched me so much as a young person, yes sometimes it was very scary but it scared me right out of hell !!!!! And for that I will be eternally gratefull. The bible say´s that the fear of the Lord is the beggining of wisdom so praise God for that.

Brother Barrys life and ministry also ignited the call of God in me and now my band and I travel all over the world speading the message of Jesus christ through music and preaching.

Although you have gone on your fruit shall continue in the earth, thankyou for all the hours of prayer, study and dedication to the purose of God in your genaration.

Love

Michael Turner

The Smith family,
Our prayers are with you at this time.
When we think of Barry, we think of someone who was very faithful and committed in his service to the Lord, a man that loved his family, a man with a passion to see souls saved and a man with a wonderful sense of humour.

He will be greatly missed.

I was born again at the age of 13 in 1985, two years later I first heard Barry Smith here in England, since then I have grown up hearing his messages, reading his books and watching his teaching videos which have made an incredible impact on my life.

His messages have inspired me to 'stand in the gap' and I now find myself in full time ministry sharing the gospel every morning on radio to countless millions across Africa and Asia.

It clearly is our loss and Heavens gain.

My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Dear May, Andrew, Becky & Rachel

Although I'm deeply sad at the passing away of 'uncle Barry' (as I've always known him) - I also rejoice that he's gone home to be with the Lord.

I will always remember my conversion as a youngster in one of Barry's meetings at Te Atau. It was a privillege to have known him. He's been an inspiration to us all.

Our love and prayers to you all.

Having being part of a group of friends at Tory St. Then being our groomsman when Janice married Graham who died 1977 it seems like a life time of knowing Barry even if we were out of touch for years at times. Gordon & I have enjoyed & been challenged by Barry's messages over the years & he will be sadly missed by many saints all over the world. Our love & prayers are with you May & the family as you travel on without Barry but knowing that the day will come when you will meet again in Gods Kingdom. We love you.

As editor of Outreach Magazine (Christian Outreach Centre) I had the privilege of interviewing Barry twice for the purpose of articles. The great thing about Barry was that he was exactly the same man face-to-face as in the pulpit - no pretenses. I truly loved him as a man of integrity and purpose. He didn't "go with the flow" and was truely courageous. I'm glad I went to one of his meetings recently in Buderim Queensland.

Even though I've had trouble accepting much of Barry's eschatology, Barry Smith the preacher and evangelist will always have a warm place in my heart. When he spoke of his love for God and gave his views on Christian living, it would either put a smile on my face or create a yearning in my heart for a deepening walk with Jesus. Barry will be sorely missed!
