Dear Aunty May and family

When I received the news about Uncle Barry I automatically thought back to the Te Atatu days and also the countless lives that he came in contact with over the years and led to the Lord. Your family Ministry has been a wonderful inspiration to all. I will always remember the stories that Uncle Barry related about experiences here in Samoa and around the Pacific.

This great evangelist had a heart and respect for people, regardless of age, colour or race. We shall remember him (with a smile) as one who used to translate some of the english words into Samoan for the interpreters during his crusades here when there was a long pause indicating that the interpreter was searching for the right word.

He has now gone beyond the curtain of time and waiting for loved ones on the other side (where he used to say is filled with angelic music but no beat).

Aunty May, our thoughts and prayers are with you and family at this time.

With love,
Latu and Kisa Kupa

Dear Andrew, all the family, and especially May,

I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to know Barry and, more personally, these last few weeks. (I collected him from Yate near Bristol, England for his West of England tour and then took him up to Chipping Norton to his sister's home before he went on to Chester for what was to be his last preaching engagement here.) It was such a joy and very funny to be with him. We laughed and prayed and rejoiced all the way in the car. As you, Andrew, so rightly put it in your own tribute, he was a very funny man, yet so earnest about the message the Lord had placed on his life to give. He was so thorough in his research, not wishing to mislead anyone and driven by a passion for the lost that will always remain a lasting challenge to me. I remember sharing in the car as we were travelling up to his sisters last week, that I believed God had been restoring, in these very last days, the 'apostolic' ministry to the international Church and that his ministry was of that kind. When he thanked me for my kindness in taking him around and meeting his needs etc. I just replied that I considered it a real privilege to have that honour because of whom I considered him to be in the Lord. Barry didn't see it that way of course. In his eyes, he was just an ordiary guy with an extra-ordinary God, and I suppose in a way he was right. We should count it a real joy and a privilege and honour to serve any Christian brother or sister, whether famous or unknown. Yet Barry was very special, especially chosen before the foundation of the earth, to offer us, in our generation, this awesome revelation of the plans and purposes of the evil one and the awesome soveriegnty and final victory of our God.
His work is now done and well done, but when I heard of his 'promotion to glory', I felt in my spirit a heavy responsibilty now resting on us all to repond to that message ourselves with all its implications and to share it with those yet to hear. This would be the best way to show our appreciation of all that he means to us. With his work over, has the Church now heard all there is to hear? and ....have they heard? If he has spoken all that God needs to say, then the days are indeed short.
We praise God for your father's obedience and wish to honour him. You must be all so very proud of him.

Our heartfelt prayers and love go out to you all at this time. Love from your brothers and sisters here in Cornwall England

To the Smith Family.

We just wanted to express our condolences to you at this sad time.
I first heard Barry preach after a friend loaned me one of his cassette tapes in 1991. What an inspiration it was to hear someone boldly telling the truth. Telling it straight and powerfully, yet with love, was just what I needed to hear at the time.
He truly was a Man of God, and the Church will miss him.
God Bless you all.

Dear Smith Family,
May I expres my deepest condolances on this sad day.
He was a lovely man who had a heart that God loved deeply, and will be greatly missed.
I guess now the Lord has called him home as he has completed his work for Jesus, and now he will enter a well earned rest beside his Saviour.
May God pour in the oil and wine of mourning at this time and draw especially close to the immediate family. Our prayer and thoughts are with you all at this time.
love in Jesus name
Eileene.

Dear Barry Smith Family,

Barry Smith was a man who stood by what he said and cared very little about men pleasing when he knew that what he spoke was from God.

This was the first impression he made in me when I attended a packed hall at the Nairobi Pentecostal Church in Kenya that he addressed.

His love for others was evident and those that were opposed to him soon realized that what he spoke was not motivated by hatred, but a genuine concern for their concern for their welfare.

He is now before the very presence of God and although I will miss him and his contribution to Omega times, it pleased God in His infinite wisdom to take him home.

I pray that you may be comforted and to repeat Paul's words in 1Thess. 4:13 ..But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope...

In Christ's abounding Love,

E.M. Baimpwi

My thoughts are with you all at this time, and I celebrate his life, and thank you all for what Barry has been for my family and I.
We have been to see Barry here in England twice, once at Worcester and also at Barnstaple, well worth the trip.
Thank you Andrew for letting us know of Barry's departure.

I just read with great sadness the news of Barry's departure, as a young christian in my student days Barry's teaching opened my eyes to the fact that the Bible is the infallible word of God, and that we are not unaware of the devil's schemes. One of our Generals leaves to receive his reward, what bitter sweet Joy - Thank You Jesus!

Richard Ezekiel28/06/2002 at 05:15pm GMT
To the family of Barry Smith,

I recently bought Barry's two books last month.
I have watched his videos together with my family many times. He is a wonderful man with a keen sense of world events combined with Bible prophecy. I understood much about Bible prophecy which was one upon a time a mystery to me. But his books and tapes helped to solve the mysteries.

I am going to miss him not only on his comments on world events but also as a man of God who brought many to accept Christ as their personal Saviour. Truly a genuine man with zeal and enthusiasm for souls.

"He has run his race and kept his faith"
"Let him enter into the Joy of the Lord"

Amen.........

My love and prayers for his family,
Richard Ezekiel

Your teaching to me through video helped me find the lord. You are in heaven now resting in peace and are rewarded in gods glory.

Thank you for prophecy through the Lord.

I will miss you, and hope one day, (but I know God is comming soon,) that I can preach like you.

I praise you.

Dear Andy, Saskia and family,

We received word of Barry promotion today with great sadness. Whilst we know that we are only a few amongst thousands Barry is to us, one in a million. Since our salvation under his unique ministry, Barry has remained our primary role model for integrity, humility and priorities.
Despite the fact that we last saw Barry and May in Sydney airport as they journeyed together in the Lords employ, several years ago, they have remained daily in our hearts and so they shall continue to be.

I don't know how to explain it to the family except to say that when Barry received us into God's family, his family, we received him as our father in the faith. Jesus came into our hearts but so did Barry. My love for Barry and May is just as strong as it is for my own parents and the Smith family is my family in many ways. You shared your dad with many who today are sharing in your loss and as much as we were blessed by our share of Barry, may you be tangibly blessed by sharing your grief among many.

At this stage it is unlikely we can come to Barry's farewell as our visas have been stalled by the events of September 11th. Although we are approved for green cards , the process is drawn out.

There is a heaviness in my heart that somehow we may not have communicated directly to Barry just how grateful we are to him for his faithfulness to the Lord and the life altering impact he has had on us. There is also the realisation that it falls to all of us, "his kids" to step up to the plate and continue Barry's legacy.

God ordained that Barry be a part of our lives and we will be forever thankful. We share a love of trees and I'm sure Barry will be relaxing under one, drinking a cup of whatever they drink in heaven. He will most certainly have heard those wonderful words," Well done good and faithful servant. Come in to your reward." And Barry's reply would be," As for me , I will behold Thy face and I will be satisfied."

We love you so much, Jeff, Heather, Sam, David, Rebekah, Jacob and Isaac.XXXXXXX
